1 Ptfe Tape Tor Oil (also known as PTFE tape or plumber's tape) is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film tape commonly used in plumbing for sealing pipe threads.
2 Ptfe Tape Tor Oil is also known by the genericized Teflon tape; while Teflon is in fact identical to PTFE, Chemours (the trade-mark holders) consider this usage incorrect, especially as they no longer manufacture Teflon in tape form.
3 Ptfe Tape Tor Oil also works as a deformable filler and thread lubricant, helping to seal the joint without hardening or making it more difficult to tighten,and instead making it easier to tighten.
4 Ptfe Tape Tor Oil is commonly used commercially in applications including pressurized water systems, central heating systems, and air compression equipment.
1. Unwrap 2 or 3 inches of thread-seal tape from the roll. Hold the male end of the pipe, which is the end that has the threads on the outside of the pipe, in one hand and loop the loose end of the tape over the pipe just behind the point where the threads begin. With the thumb of the hand that's holding the pipe, hold the end of the tape to the pipe. Bring the roll over the end of the pipe to wrap the tape in a clockwise direction around the threads. Wrap the tape tightly, making three or four revolutions around the threads.
2. Hold the tape tightly around the threads in one hand and pull the roll way in the other direction to break the tape. Wrap the broken end of the tape around the threads.
3. Thread the female pipe fitting, which has the threads on the inside, onto the taped threads immediately. Tighten the threads as tight as possible by hand. Then tighten one additional turn with a pipe wrench. Repeat the process for all the other the other fittings.
